Since ancient Greece, nude body has been a major theme in art. In Victorian era, the nude was one of the most controversial subjects, any woman who had sexual pleasure was abnormal. However behind this facade a dark side of prostitutes, pornography and a profitable trade in virgins existed. At that time Manet's Dejeuner sur l'herbe and Olympia were considered obscene. Only since 1900 the nude has undergone a gradual liberation. Fashion banned cumbersome clothing, and sexuality became publicly acknowledged. In my paintings I show how I experience and feel nudity. Personality of the nude female model and natural beauty of women is key. I paint curvy bodies in a figurative way, honouring her in all her sexual and erotic glamour.
